How to view calendar and receive notifications of another user?

I have user(1) at my company that is able to give herself rights to view the
calendar of another user(2), but user(1) is not getting email notifications
and the user can't see meeting notices on user(2) calendar.

Outlook 2003 is the version. Can anyone help with this issue?
