How to work offine on a different computer with project in project Server 2003

Hello,

I understand that the the "Save Offline" feature allows you to work
offline only on the desktop you are working on.

I want to send the project file to someone, and ask him to use his
copy of Project 2003 Professional to add his edits and email back to
me. Them I want to import this file and make this updated file as my
online file.

Is this possible?

Regards....

Android,

You can save the file as MPP and send it to anyone you want. Assuming you
are using PS2003 you can do save as and then select save as a file. When you
restore the file back to project server you have to delete the previous
version. Remember you can loose web actuals entered by resources.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the help.

I thought I'd test it before I use it on a real project.

After saving the file to a local folder I deleted the online file and
then I tried placing the local project nack online using two different
methods.

1) Used the "Import Project to Enterprise" function.
2) Open --> Open from File --> Save AS

They both seen to work, but when you close it open it next time it
asks to change filter name for "&Entry". I don't know the significance
of this. Would this cause problems later?

Android,

Your enterprise global has a table name Entry. Which is also available in
Project that is the reason you are asked that there is already a table name
Entry and do you want to replace it.

Let me know if this helps.

OK. However I would think this is true for anyone who uses this
process, since the file originally came from the enterprise global.
I'm pretty sure I did not create this table -- it must be part of the
vanilla installation of PS2003.

Is there a way to renove this issue? PS2003 does not allow you to
overwite this table.

Android:

What has happened here is that you probably copied the entry table into the
Enterprise Global. Have you opened your Enterprise Global recently? When you
edit the Enterprise Global file, you should never switch to a local view or
change projects. You should have only the Enterprise Global open and no
other project files when making edits to this file. Use only the Enterprise
Gantt chart and this won't happen.

See the following for more information and how to correct it:

You might also consider getting a copy of "Administering Microsoft Office
Project Server 2003" which will help you avoid problems like this in the
future, by better grounding you in the concepts.
