How to "Work Offline"?

M

Mark Byington

I am getting more interest with some of our PM's in being able to load a
project on their laptop, take it home, make changes or additions to the
schedule, then return to the office and apply them to Project Server?

Is there a straight forward way to do this? The "working offline" DOC I've
read so far sort of 'talks around' it and implies that it is easy, but I have
not found a step by step process. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places.

I'd like to be able to supply these folks with a relatively easy process to
do this since interest seems to be increasing.

I know there's a discussion group guru out there who can easily point us in
the right direction.

Thanks

While connected to your corporate network, do the following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional 2003 and log into Project Server.
2. Open an enterprise project.
3. Click File - Save Offline.
4. Exit Microsoft Project Professional 2003 and go home.

While at home, do the following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional 2003, select your regular account,
and click the Work Offline button (DO NOT select the My Computer account).
2. Click File - Open and open the offline project.
3. Edit the project as desired and click the Save button to save it in
offline mode.
4. Exit Microsoft Project Professional 2003.

While connected to your corporate network, do the following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional 2003 and log into Project Server.
2. Click File - Open and open the offline project.
3. Click File - Save Online.

Now, how hard was that? Hope this helps.

Not at all...and it's probably stated somewhere, it's just that the stuff I
was finding was making it seem much more difficult.

Thanks, Dale.
