HTML background lost when inserted the file as text

Hi:

When I inserted an HTML file with pre-formatted background color as text to
be sent out, the background color is lost and I have to do the format again
in Outlook.

Can anyone please tell me how to correct this problem?

PS: My goal is to have pre-developed HTML newsletters to be delivered by
Outlook 2003.

Thanks in advance.

.
I created a folder named "newsletter" under the My Webs
folder that contains all web sites that I maintain. Then, I
use FrontPage to create a 600 pixel wide newsletter
"template". It is saved in the newsletter folder. I then
open the template, make my changes and the Save As,
changing the file name to append the current date in the
YYMMDD format. This way each newsletter is always in
sequence for later reference.

Image that are placed in the newsletter must be Published
to a web and linked to the site. Otherwise, the recipient
will not see the image.

I then select the entire page (Ctrl+A)copy it to the
clipboard (Ctrl+C) and open a new message in Outlook and
paste (Ctrl+V). Place all e-mail addresses in the Bcc field.

After the e-mail distribution is complete, I remove any
e-mail addresses in the document and post it to my web site
as an archive. Click on any date on this page:

It's me again.
Maybe the reason that you lost HTML is that you don't have
that option set. Tools> Options> Click on Mail Format tab
and change to Compose in this message fromat: HTML

Hi Chuck:

Thank you so much for your kind sharing and I will follow your suggestions.

But first of all, I did make sure that the current message is set as HTML
file, and that is why the format background can be performed within the
message.

Here are some of what I have tried that are similar to yours: The first
part of each item is based on what you've said.

(1) I created a folder named "newsletter" under the My Webs folder that
contains all web sites that I maintain. --- I did this.

(2) Then, I use FrontPage to create a 600 pixel wide newsletter "template".
It is saved in the newsletter folder. --- I did this.

(3) then open the template, make my changes and the Save As, changing the
file name to append the current date in the YYMMDD format. This way each
newsletter is always in sequence for later reference. --- Did similar but no
dating yet, since I am still on experimenting stage.

(4) I then select the entire page (Ctrl+A)copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C)
and open a new message in Outlook and paste (Ctrl+V). Place all e-mail
addresses in the Bcc field. -- Have not done this and will definitely try.
What I have done:

(A) Try to insert the page into the new message as text and send out --
background lost.
(B) Use Word 2003 (with and without mail merger) to send out --- seems work
in a way -- have not finalized the conclusion and procedures
(C) Use FP 2003 to open the web and the file and use "Send" function to send
the HTML file -- all images lost.

(5) Image that are placed in the newsletter must be Published to a web and
linked to the site. Otherwise, the recipient will not see the image. --- Not
published yet, all images and HTML files are just FTP to the web, but yet to
be published --- could be a major step that I did not do. I did, however,
insert images as URL and make sure Outlook option for not to send images as
a copy.

(6) After the e-mail distribution is complete, I remove any e-mail addresses
in the document and post it to my web site as an archive. Click on any date
on this page: http://www.anthemwebs.com/communitynews.htm#Previous_issues --
Have not done it yet, but would follow.

Thanks so much, and I would share with you the final outcomes.

Hi:

This is an update for what have been done and appears to be successful.

I followed your suggestion to put the file into the public web and opened
and saved it as doing regular Web pages.

PS: For this test, I use a simple Christmas card with small images.

I then use Word 2003 to open the file from the web site, and use Mail Merger
function for adding some personal greeting lines, and sent out with Outlook
2003. It does the trick.

I also tried Send function without Mail Merger in Word 2003 and FP 2003 (not
actually sent it, just to see what the message would look like), and both
messages looked good as the web page.

But funny thing is, background would still be missing if I just inserted the
file as text into Outlook 2003 new message (HTML format is activated).

But I guess I won't care that anymore since that was not my wish to do the
newsletter.

I guess your suggestion mentioned one critical point, that the files have to
be put into the web, and opened and saved again (as the same of been
published) so that it can be used.

Thanks so much.
