Html Code

In Dream weaver I can view the code as the page is being written.
Can you view the html code in publisher 2007. I have looked everywhere and I
can't find a way to do it.
I write a lot of my web sites in Note Pad and than paste the html in to the
web page.
I just can't figure out how to do that in Publisher 2007.
Any Ideas ??
Thanks.

Publisher is not a code editor. If you want similar functionality as
DreamWeaver, then Expression Web is the current choice by MSFT. It replaced
FrontPage.

Publisher is a DTP intended for those people that have developed print
formatted materials and want to use the basic skill sets to create a simple
web presence, and reuse many of the design elements in a web page. It is
fine for a relatively simple, static site, but in no way is compared to
Dreamweaver or Web expression.

You can insert code snippets into a Publisher page using the insert htm code
fragment feature, but generally you do the design and layout work in the
publication, then convert to html by Publish to the Web...you don't
generally edit the code directly...you edit the original Pub doc, and create
new code.

Publisher uses VML and XML and other code unique to Publisher, and generally
you cannot import the pages into a code editor to edit. You can see the code
by doing a web page preview and looking at the source code from there.

Make sure that Publisher is indeed what you want to use before you abandon
NotePad or DreamWeaver. You are likely to be disappointed with the
limitations, unless you want the convenience.

Nope.
If you have DW and know how to write code with Notepad, why would you
entertain the notion of using Publisher? - Just curious.

But I will try Expression Web, I am tring to get away from Dream Weaver. For
lots of reasons.

If you are looking for a less (much less) alternative to DW, check out
WebPlus by Serif. You can use html coding if you wish, but it is a
pretty decent WYSIWYG design program.

Funny you should mention that...I heard from Natasha this morning with a
deal on Web 10 I think it was.

Me too a couple days ago...and the price was a tad more attractive than Web
Expression or even Publisher...$19.95 plus shipping I think.

Guys,

I would scarf it up, at least if you are thinking about using a
different program than Pub to design pages. There's a new version that
apparently will be released soon - I look for it to have even more bells
and whistles.
