is there code that will return not only the page address that brought the
visitor to the current page but the code that would show what page he came
from before the referer page

in other words ,if you are on page 3
and you got there from page 2
is there code to show page 1 name/address ?

Yes but you would need to use some type of serer-side scripting such as ASP
to do this.

How would you do this? For example I'm on sitea.com/page.htm I click a link
to siteb.com/page then to sitec.com/page. While sitec could determine I'd
come from siteb how could they find out I'd been to sitea first of all?

Unless I've misunderstood the question there's no way to do this either
client or server side.

Hi Jon. Sorry, you're right. I didn't see the part about figuring out the
page BEFORE the page that brought them there. You could figure out the page
that you clicked to get to the next page but not 2 pages before unless the
link used a QueryString, GUID etc to send that information along. And all
the pages would need to be .ASP (or PHP etc) and not HTML to use server-side
scripts.
