HUGE 62 GIG LOG FILE FROM Project Server

B

Brett Smith

In my office we have Project Professional 2003 on my desktop. We also have
Sql Server 2000, Project Server and Project Web Access for all the employees
to connect to and book their time, and mark their tasks as complete. A big
problem occurred this morning. A 62 gigabyte log file is on the Server where
Project Server is on and it is almost at it's fullest capacity. What can be
causing this 62 gigabyte log file to occur and what can I do to stop it from
reocurring again. Thanks to anybody who can help out with this problem!

Brett:

Your huge problem started when you fired up the application without regard
to backing up and maintaining the SQL database. You need to backup your
database and truncate the log file. Then you need to setup a maintenance
plan so this happens automatically, or consider moving to a simple recovery
method.
