Huge memory requirements (OL 2k3)

Hi,

OL 2k3 is taking about 70mb of RAM (as shown in TaskManager).

This seems to be very inconsistent. Sometimes when it first launches it
will show about 8-9mb but will grow steadily to at least 20mb and often
to 70+mb.

At first I thought I might have too many messages in my personal folders
so I went through and eliminated 80 to 90% of them. This didn't seem to
help at all, even after compressing.

Is this normal? How much ram is ordinarily required.

I use OL for email only, no calander, journal, news, etc.

I don't know if this is related, but when I close OL, it stays in the
tray and does not free any memory. Clicking on it in the tray does not
re-launch it. The only way to get it out of the tray is to kill the
process.

Any help would be appreciated.

Should I assume from the lack of response that my findings are not normal?

How much memory should OL require?
