Huge number of Text Boxes!

Hello All,
I have an Excel file which only has one page. I use it draw a roster
like table so that it doesn't contain complex formula. However, I don't
know why, its file size is very big ( more than 7M )! I tried to figure out
the reason, I realized there are a lot of text boxes ( more than 40000 )
which are empty! So it is very slow whenever I move or change anything in
the file. You know, I can't manually delete all of them as there are SO
MANY!
Moreover, I can't search "Text Box" by the search function.
What can I do? Why this happened? Help!

Kenneth,

You can select all objects on a sheet from the Edit menu...
Edit | Go To | Special (button) | Objects (check box)
Once you do that, press the delete key.

It will be interesting to see if it can handle 40,000 textboxes.
You might be better off, copying and pasting Values to a
new workbook.

Hello:

Make sure you have a backup

Open the workbook

Insert a new worksheet

Try selecting the area of the work sheet you are using, or entire the sheet
if you wish, selecting the working area will probably result in a smaller file
size. Copy this, now switch to the blank sheet and choose paste
special/formulas

Repeat the paste but this time choose paste special/format

Repeat the paste but this time choose paste special/column width

If everything looks ok then delete the original sheet. Now do a
save as, don't just save it. Test it to make sure it works. (if it doesn't
you can go to your backup)
