Huge site won't synchronize

I've taken on a new client who has used Front Page for a few years now. The
site is pretty big with many thousand pages. I've tried to synchronize in
FrontPage 2000 and 2003 on two different high-speed connections, but both
have failed. After a while, FrontPage gives an error that says the site
cannot be reached, but before and after the attempt at a large synch I'm
able to retrieve smaller batches of files.

It seems like FP is barfing on the large number of files and directories it
has to deal with. Is that the problem, and if so, how can I this entire
site using FrontPage? If the large number of files and folders isn't the
problem, is there something that could be at play?

Thanks in advance or any suggestions. I'm sure other must have come across
this.

Dave
p.s. My next question will be how to identify and safely delete lots of old
content....

Hi Dave,

More than likely it is a server timeout that is causing the problem. Are there logical folder levels that can be changed to sub
webs? If so, then you can break it down into smaller work units. Only having to sync those work units that have had changes.
