I am running Outlook 2003 on both a Vista laptop and an XP SP2 desktop. On
the laptop, there is a file in program files/common/system/msmapi/1033 called
".log" that gets huge (2 gb) quickly. It seems to have info on some / most
/ all of the e-mails in my pst file. (Primarily using hotmail premium or
whatever it's called but also my ISP e-mail.) I don't see this file anywhere
on my XP desktop. It seems to be unrelated to "Outlook logging," which is
not turned on on either machine. I periodically delete it and see no value
in keeping it and using up so much space.
Is there a way to stop Outlook from creating the file so I don't have to
keep on deleting it? Or do I need it for something? Everything seems to run
fine after I delete it.
