I have tasks that need to be accomplished with human and non-human resources (Testers and Machines) being used together, for example what I have done is
Set up tasks so it has a task type of "Fixed Units" that’s effort driven
If the task is to take 10hrs: 1 Tester and 1 machine @ 100
I set the Duration to be 10hrs and work is figured out to be 20hrs (10hr*2 resources)
Or the really complicated one…….
If the task is to take 10hrs: 2 Testers (100%) and 1 Machine(200%
I set the Duration to be 5hrs (10hr/2 testers=5) and work is figured out to be 15hrs (5hr*2 testers + 10hr*1 machine
This situation levels correctly, but what I'm now trying to do is enter in the actual time, start, and finish dates. The tasks could take a total of 10 hrs, but start 4/15/04 and end 5/5/04 because the task is not done from the beginning to the end in one sweep
For example
2 hr 4/15/0
5 hr 5/1/0
3 hr 5/5/0
I have not been able to enter in my own start/end dates with the actual duration and vice versa. Project keeps changing the actual duration or actual end date when the other is changed. Is there anything that I can do to make project "less smart" so it will not keep changing what I have entered?
