Hyperlink Icon in Access 2003

Hi there

I have a database that was originally written in acces 97 but is working
very well in access 2003.

In the database i have a form with a text box where we enter a hyperlink to
a copy of a letter - for some reason the hyperlink icon in access 2003
doesn't work and i can't work out why?

it works perfectly okay in 97 but the hyperlink icon looks greyed out in
access 2003

Could anyone point me in the right direction please.
