hyperlink in a footer

Sherry Parke

Does anyone know how to create a working hyperlink within
a footer?

Or...Insert a symbol such as an arrow at the bottom of
each page (without having to do it manually on each page)
in order to create a hyperlink to "Return to Top" of the
document.

Can the same FOOTNOTE be placed at the bottom of each page
automatically without having to do it manually on each
page?

Thanks for your assistance,
sherry

Hyperlinks in footers are exactly like hyperlinks anywhere else, inserted in
the same way. Footers are automatically inserted at the bottom of every
page. Footnotes are not, because a footnote is always linked to a specific
location within the page.

I know how to create a hyperlink in a footer, but...once
you close the footer, the hyperlink doesn't work.

That's not surprising. You can't do anything with the footer when the
footer pane is not active.

Actually there's an oddity with this. If you have a hyperlink in a footer,
the cursor changes to a hand when you mouseover (with the footer
inactive) -- still doesn't work, but Word is obviously aware of the
hyperlink being there and your mouse being over it.
