Hyperlink Issues

When a user creates a hyperlink in a hyperlink field on a form, they are
shown the Edit Hyperlink window where they can choose a folder to select the
item or type in the address. Here's the problem. We have our DB (BE only)
on a network. Several users have different Letter drives pointing to the
network. If the user selects the hyperlink by clicking through folders, it
throws the Letter Drive into the address. Therefore, other users aren't able
to access the file. E.g. D:/Folder1/Folder2 or G:/Folder1/Folder2.

Previously I posted a similar question and thanks to the generous help of
this online community I discovered that I could change the "Hyperlink Base"
for each version of Access installed on the user's computer. However this
doesn't help to prevent this base from being added to the hyperlink address
when clicking through folders in the Edit Hyperlink window.

So what I'm wondering is if there is a way to automatically prevent the
Hyperlink Base from being added to the hyperlink address field if the user
clicks through folders to find the file?
