hyperlink path problem

When i link from a 'main' presentation to another presentation is a
sub-folder, the full path is returned, like
c:\clients\abccompany\products\filename.pps

That's not a problem till I want to transfer the whole presentation to
another computer. Then, the links don't work becuase the full path is not
found on other computers.

I want to specify that the link should be \products\filename.pps.

How can I do that in Powerpoint?

When linking to any type of file, first ensure that it is located in the same
folder as the presentation your linking from. That will make the link
"relative" or pathless. See:

I understand what you're saying, but for organizational reasons, I need to
keep certain presentation grouped together in certain folders. Is there a way
to edit the path?

Believe me, this is the way it works. If need be, if you know that you need to
distribute a presentation to other systems, make a copy of the files before you
link them and store the copies in a common folder with the presentation to
ensure the links won't break when the files are moved. The originals remain in
your organizational structure.

If you're using PPT 2003, you can try using Package for CD (but choose Copy
to Folder in the dialog box). It *might* resolve your links.

I wouldn't suggest this with the old Pack and Go that was in PPT 2002, 2000,
97, because it sucked at trying to resolve links to files on servers or
really buried on your harddrive. 2003's Package for CD works better than
Pack and Go, so it's worth a try.

You could manage the folder links with a VBA solution. Or wait for
Steve Rindsberg who is the author of Fixlinks, and addin that adresses
linking problems. Not sure if it does it with hyperlinks though.
Me, I'd just use VBA.
You, you might also try file naming conventions to cluster like files
when sorted by name and keep them all in one folder like Sonia and
Echo advise.
