Hyperlink settings changed

When I type in a URL onto the Word document I get {HYPERLINK
"www.meonline.com" } as before it would be either www.meonline.com or
http://www.meonline.com in blue and active.

What has changed? What do I need to correct?

Press Alt+F9 to toggle the display of field codes off. You may need to do it
twice (the first 'toggle' will make all codes display if you have some
displayed and some not).

Thank you I also did the Tools>Options>and unchecked field codes...that also
worked.
