Hyperlink stuck on C drive

Matt Slick

Problem just started. Been using FP for years. Anyway, I have FP2003, XP,
SP2.

I have my website on my HD (Hard Drive) where I work on it my site, write,
link, then publish. When editing on my HD, I link internally by opening a
page or drilling down to the page in the link process. It USED TO link by
designations like ../..page.htm, etc..... Then when I would publish, the url
would become http://www.mywebsite.... UNTIL NOW.. Now, they all
automatically link to file:///C:/....etc. What gives? I can't find a code
to change, affect, return this to a proper method of linking. Also, when I
publis to the web, now all the new links I've made point to
file:///C:/....etc. NOT GOOD.

My website is huge with just over 50,000 internal links (that is links
linked internally) with another 4900 external links. I can't work with this
problem.

Can anyone help?

Open your local disc based web in FP and publish it to a top level folder - say: C:\wwwMyWebName
The open that site and search for / correct broken links (search for file:///C) and correct them

By using a top level folder you help FP in maintaining relative links
- also never open a page outside of FP or add links to local pc pages/files outside of your site
