Hyperlink To Excel Question

I am using PowerPoint 2003 and 2007 and I need to hyperlink to an Excel
spreadsheet. When I click the In slideshow mode, clicking the hyperlink
causes Excel to briefly appear and then disappear. When PowerPoint is
minimized, Excel reappears.

I need Excel to retain the focus, until I close it. How would I do this?
