Hyperlink to PDF File

In a Word 2000 document, if I create a hyperlink to another word
document, it opens OK when I click on the hyperlink.

However, if I create a hyperlink to a PDF file, it opens for a fraction
of a second when I click on the hyperlink, then closes again.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Just a guess, but there may be a problem with your Acrobat Reader
installation, try a a reinstall with the latest version from Adobe.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it made no difference.

Does the PDF file open when you try a PDF link from Internet Explorer or
another program? You need to determine whether Acrobat reader is even
working properly as opposed to something caused by Word.

Bob,

I've done some more investigation.

I can open a PDF file OK by double-clicking it. I can even
programmatically make a PDF help file open from a Visual Basic program.

However, the problem is maybe Office 2000 related since hyperlinks to a
PDF file in an Excel spreadsheet and in a PowerPoint presentation
produce the same problem as a hyperlink in Word.

Does Acrobat start up when you double click the hyperlink? Or does
something else start?

I have the same problem. I called up adobe support and they are aware
of this issue. In the "near future" they will have an update to Adobe
7.0 which includes this fix. Until then, the problem exists with no
work around.

Bryan,

Thank you for letting me know. It's a relief to know that this is a real
bug!
