Hyperlink to Publisher documents

I am using Excel to create an index of marketing documents. I have been able
to insert hyperlinks to the files on our server for documents created in
Word, however when I insert hyperlinks to Publisher documents and click on
the hyperlink, only Publisher opens. The error box says that the file I am
looking for can't be found and directs me to another box to search for the
file. Is there something I can do to get the hyperlinks to Publisher to work?

Hi Marsha,

What version (from Help=>About) of MS Office
(Excel, Word and Publisher in this case are you
using and are you using a method other than Ctrl+K
to create the hyperlink to a .PUB file?

I was able to put a hyperlink in a blank Excel spreadsheet
and when clicked it opened the Publisher document in Publisher.

I am using Excel 2003 SP1 and Publisher 2003 SP1, from the Microsoft Office
Small Business Edition. I am using a right click to access the hyperlink
function.

Hi Marsha,

The right click 'Hyperlink' dialog is the one you
would also get using Ctrl+K on the keyboard. I wasn't
able to duplicate the problem.

Opening a blank Excel worksheet, from the Hyperlink
dialog and browsing to an existing 2003 .PUB file to create
the link works in Excel 2003 SP1 here to bring up that
particular .pub file when the link is clicked after going
through two 'warning' dialogs about the dangers of hyperlinking.

It's possible that running Detect & Repair from the help menu
in Excel may reset a problem in the Office setup.
