Hyperlink to templates

Lisa

i have set up a word document that is full of hyperlinks
to word templates, but if i go via the hyperlink it opens
the tempalte as a document, so you can edit it. How can i
make it so that the hyperlink opens the template as a
template. I have tried making the template a shortcut and
hyperlinking to the shortcut my typing in the file
location manually, but it still doesn't like it. what can
i do?

You can't use hyperlinks to create new documents based on templates, at
least not directly. Look on the MVP FAQ site for information on using macros
and macrobutton fields for this purpose. If you want, I can email you a
document that has such macros and fields.

If I'm following Lisa correctly, she is encountering the reverse
problem - her links to templates are resulting in a new document based
on the template.

Lisa, did you try my recent suggestion in the office.misc newsgroup?

Hi Lisa,

Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll send you a
document that has the macros and macrobuttons to do this. You'll have to
take "remove" and "nospam" out of the email address, though.
