Hyperlink to webpage too long?

M

Madridmamacita

Using Publisher 2003
I want to add a link from my website to a google calendar web page. However,
when I paste the address in "Address" field of the Edit Hyperlink box the
last hundred or so characters do not show. How can I get Publisher to let me
paste the entire url in the address field?

The last hundred or so characters do not show? Just how many characters
is this url?

jeez..the link to my Google Calendar is only around 50 characters.

I believe the URL limit is 255 characters...I think.

Thanks for your replies. I did try tiny.cc and the 384 character link works
now. However, I am not excited about being diverted to tiny's website before
the link is completed. Not sure if that is mandatory or if it can be changed.
I have emailed their tech support and will see what they say.

yikes that's not a good alt then!

384 is tooooo big

is that the *only* way to get to the calendar?

Let us know what you hear from tiny. I have used them several times in the
past but didn't realize that you were diverted to their website.

If your Internet Hosting Service offers Fantastico or Plesk, you can
probably install Web Calendar on your own site. I don't think there's
much Google Calendar can do that Web Calendar cannot. You can even run
it inside an i-frame so it keeps a consistent look.

Tim Boid of Tiny.cc replied to my email request to furnish a miniture URL for
my 384 character monstrosity. He provided me with a "tiny" (14 characters)
link that takes people directly to the target instead of stopping at Tiny.cc
first. He tells me that he is working on a new site that will allow people to
create their own tiny links along with many other valuable features. Thanks
for the tip on Tiny.

An iframe was the other option I was given to access the google calendar but
when I inserted the code fragment only the first two weeks of the calendar
appeared in a rectangular frame. I will stick with Tiny.
