Word 2003

Hi,

I have a program that brings certain text into a Word doc. When it brings
in something like this:

http://test.com

It doesn't format it like a hyperlink. Can I get Word to atomically
recognize that that is a hyperlink? Keep in mind the hyperlink will be in
the middle of a bunch of other text that I'm bring in.

Thanks,

You can't do it automatically, but you can do it in one manual step.

In the Tools > AutoCorrect Options dialog, there are two similar tabs:
one is "AutoFormat" and the other is "AutoFormat As You Type". On each
of them you'll find an option for "Internet and network paths with
hyperlinks". Note that these options are independently settable.

The "AutoFormat As You Type" option controls what happens
automatically when you type a URL or email address or UNC network
path, but this doesn't apply to text you paste or put in through any
means other than the keyboard.

The "AutoFormat" option controls what happens when you manually select
Format > AutoFormat and click OK in the dialog. This will go through
the whole document and format any URL, email address, or UNC path that
already exists in the text.

To avoid unintended changes, it's best to uncheck all the other
options and just format addresses. (The Options button in the
AutoFormat dialog will take you directly to the correct tab of the
options dialog so you can do that.)
