hyperlinked images - opening in IE explorer not default windows im

have Powerpoint 03 - have several slides with hyperlinks to png and jpg
images - my pc folder default is to show this formats in windows image and
vax viewer ... not the greatest as often have to resize the window/image.

However when I run my presentation and open these hyperlinks they are opened
in IE explorer? any idea why / how to correct?

am thinking of making some hidden slides with each image already inserted
into the slide -- can one use a number of hidden slides from just one slide
in the presentation?
