hyperlinks don't update in protected area of a dwt

laddy1

Example: If I have a hyperlink in a protected area in page 1 that links to
page b and I move page b to another folder the hyperlinks that are in the
protected area of page 1 will not automatically re-write the new link as it
does in a non protected area. Is there a way to change this or do I just have
to make it an unprotected area?
thank You!

Whenever you have links out of the current web, Frontpage can't manage
them so if they change you must update them yourself.

Both pages are from the same website. If I have on page 1 a hyperlink in a
protected area and a hyperlink in a non protected area ( same page ) and link
it to page"b" and then move page "b" to another folder in the same site,
fp2003 renames the folder, as it should and the link on page 1 in the non
protected area automatically updates the hyperlink while the link on page 1
in the protected area does not automatically update the hyperlink. Is that a
little more clear?

I just tried this.

Moved one page from http://192.168.1.200/rxsents/search.htm to
http://192.1.68.1.200/mainpage/search.htm.

This page is linked to in both an editable and noneditable region of a DWT.

In pages this DWT is attached to, both links were correctly changed.

laddy1,
I've found that there ABSOLUTELY is a problem with Frontpage 2003 when
updating hyperlinks when using a DWT. The issue is that if you move or rename
a page or file in the site, the DWTs that reference the file will NOT be
updated. The links on the DWT templates have to be to be updated manually or
by a brute-force search & replace.

Frontpage WILL update any CURRENT pages in the site. So everything SEEMS to
work. But as soon as you add a new page or make any changes in the templates,
the re-applied templates will now force "bad links" into your web site. Those
DWTs HAVE to be updated before you can proceed. If you have many links in the
templates, it's a lot of work.

All of my work is being done on a disk-based web, which is subsequently
published to a remote site.

Actually, I mis-spoke on one point:
The issue is that if you move or rename
a page or file in the site, the DWTs that reference the file will NOT be
updated.

If you RENAME a file (without changing its
location) Frontpage WILL change any DWTs that are OPEN during the
renaming. However, Frontpage will NOT change any DWTs that are not
open.
