Hyperlinks don't work

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel My Word documents are not displaying hyperlinks correctly. This is true whether I inserted the hyperlink myself or received and opened a document already containing a hyperlink. Instead of displaying a clickable hyperlink in blue text, it displays like this example:
{HYPERLINK "http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.mspx"}
The hyperlink as displayed is not clickable.

How can I regain the use of the hyperlink feature? Ideas anyone?

Thank you!

Option+F9 opened the "Keyboard and Mouse" window under System Preferences. However, I did find the option to toggle off the display of field codes. It was under Word Preferences --> View (under the authoring and proofing tools).

Yeah... I had forgotten that OS X commandeered the F9 key some time ago but
I had changed the assignment :) You can also Control/Right-Click any given
field & select Toggle Field Codes or select a portion/all of the document
first to toggle all codes.

Glad you found the alternative!
