hyperlinks in e-mail messages

I'm running office XP. In a mail message with a
hyperlinke-mail address I can clink the link & Outlook
responds. In a message with a web address hyperlink, I
click & nothing happens. I can view the source & find the
link, it works by copy & paste. What activates the link
on the message page? Any suggestions?
