Hyperlinks in email (Outlook 2007)

I've noticed that I can't drag a url from the address bar into an email
message and have it be automatically recognized as a hyperlink. It's easy
enough to make a hyperlink by hilighting and right clicking on it and
choosing the hyperlink option, then saying ok, but I miss the automation of
it. Is that something new, a bug, or just something weird on my machine?

I should say that I can't type one in, either, without having to do the same
steps. I've looked for the automatically underline hyperlinks thing that I
swear I remember seeing in previous versions, but can't find it. By the way,
I like the ribbons. No response on that necessary for Mr. Smith.

URLs should automatically be recognized as hyperlinks. Create a new
email message and under the Microsoft Office Button (the logo in the
upper left corner) click Editor Options, and in the Proofing sections
click AutoCorrect Options. Then on the "AutoFormat as you Type" tab,
make sure "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks" is turned on.

Hi Beth,
I found those in a couple different places and they were already checked,
but the url's are also now being underlined as they should. I didn't change
anything, just looked at the settings. Anyway, thanks!

You know, I seem to recall I encountered another option that wasn't
working and after checking the status it started working. I thought it
was just me but perhaps displaying the options and closing the dialog
box triggers an update. I'll start watching this more closely now -
thank for the update and for sharing your observations. :)
