Hyperlinks in Visio drawing don't work in Word doc

I have created a Visio 2007 flowchart that links to other various supporting
documents. However, if I try to insert it into a Word document, these links
do not work. Double clicking opens the Visio document, then one has to
select full screen view for the link to work.

How can I use this Visio flowchart in Word and have links from individual
shapes to other documents? Not all users will have Visio installed.

It's not a Visio issue, it's a Word issue. AFAIK Word does not support the
nested hyperlinks (which rely upon the Visio Application being active). Word
does support hyperlinks within its own text.
