Hyperlinks

George Warren

I have used the Wizard to download an existing http site
to my hard drive. All of the hyper links to WWW work but
the links to pages, files, & documents that reside on the
site itself do not work when I use Preview mode.

I removed a link to a site on WWW and replaced it with a
new html page I made on local site but cannot get it to
work.

Can you help me.

The correct procedure is to:

1. Open the existing site in FrontPage (via File, Open Web or File, Open
Site).
2. Choose Publish Web (or Publish Site) from the File menu, and then
specify a destination on your local file system or server.

If the existing site doesn't have the FrontPage Server Extensions, then:

1. Type the remote site's FTP URL into the Address box of any Windows
Explorer or Internet Explorer window. For example, type:
ftp://ftp.mysite.com/myweb
2. Copy all the files and folders to an empty folder on your disk.
3. Start FrontPage, choose Open Web or Open Site from the File menu,
and then specify the folder where you copied everything in step 2.
