Hyperlinks

Processor: Power PC

I need to deactivate ALL the hyperlinks on an Excel file, and keep them from reactivating when I add new email addresses on the spreadsheet.

I do not want to have an emal start up every time I slick on a cell containing an email.

I have tried the directions for killing the hyperlinks, but am only able to do one at a time. It is exceedingly tedious.

You should be able to highlight the column (or entire worksheet) and then
deselect the hyperlinks. If you are still having trouble describe in more
detail the structure of your worksheet and what you have tried,

To select the whole sheet, I click on the lozenge or diamond at the upper left corner. But then there is no way to remove all the hyperlinks, notwithstanding directions which imply that there is a menu item which will do this. There is not. Not anywhere I can find.

To remove a single hyperlinked from a cell, one selects the cell while holding down the control key. This brings up a window which enables deactivation of the annoying feature by clicking on a button near the lower left of the popup window. What we need is a way to get that window for the whole sheet at once.

If we try control-slect on the whole sheet, the popup window appears, but without the button enabling one to turn off the hyperlinks.

Try the insert hyperlink dialog. There should be a remove link button in the
lower left corner.

The Insert Hyperlink brings up the window with a Remove Link button in the lower left corner, but only for a single cell which contains a hyperlink.

It does not work with the entire sheet selected. In that case, the Remove Link button does not appear.

Hi Bob & OP -

Try the insert hyperlink dialog. There should be a remove link button in the
lower left corner.

I don't have Office X installed, but that won't work in 2004. If you select
multiple hyperlink cells the Insert> Hyperlink command is dimmed as it is in
the contextual menu. Also, if you select the entire sheet you can select
Insert> Hyperlink but the Remove Link button isn't included in the dialog.

The only mass approaches I know of - but haven't used - are what John
McGimpsey offers on his site:
