I am not in an office nor network. How to fix XP prof SP2 for home

Jody

I am not on a network nor in an office. I was told XP home and prof systems
were the same and they are not. And when I went to SP2 I start getting
processes, services and all that administrator stuff that I do not need.
Please is there a way to fix this just for a Home user without any
administrator "stuff"? I, unfortunately, got interested in the Event Viewer
which led to me doing stupid things since I am still learning computers, to
begin with. I hit a few wrong buttons which led to a "few" problems because
I want to know why things work. If anyone can follow this ,bless you.
Problem now is not being able to see pictures from Earthlink.com in Outlook
Ex. and they sent me this Microsoft Office website for a solution which
didn't help. I do not have anything checked that would interfere with seeing
the pictures. If Earthlink can't fix it, can someone out there help?
Thank you.

The first part of your post refers to the Windows XP operating system. And
would be best posted to a Windows XP newsgroup. You are correct that
Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional are similar but not identical.
However, when you installed Windows XP SP-2, only the changes that applied
to your version of Windows XP were installed. The rest of the Windows XP
portion of your post is too vague for anyone to determine the problem(s).
If your fooling with the event viewer is recent, you may be able to correct
what you did by doing a System Restore. Go to Windows XP Help and Support
and type- System Restore - in the search box for directions.

The second part of your post deals with Outlook Express which is part of
Internet Explorer and Windows XP and is not an Office program. Again your
problem description is too vague. What are you doing when the problem
occurs? Do you get any error messages?

No one in the newsgroup can read your mind. You need to be clear and
provide useful information.

You are accessing these news groups using the web interface. You will get
better results using a news reader such as Outlook Express. Suggest you
open Outlook Express and go to Help. Select the index tab and search for
news reader information.

The Microsoft news server is: msnews.microsoft.com . When you setup the
account do not use a real email address unless you want Spam.

Once you have a account set up, click on the Newsgroup icon to get a list of
Microsoft news groups. For Windows XP try;
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
as a start.

Thank you for your reply. I admitted to my mistakes and said my post was
going to be hard to follow. I do appreciate your attempt to help.
Earthlink.com sent me to this group with my problem with the pictures not
showing in Outlook Express, thinking for whaterver reason I needed Office
info. Obviously, it did not work. I have been to XP sites and for someone
not used to posting, the directions were quite confusing, making me feel like
more of a DA and which you guys have so nicely re-inforced.
I have done sysem restore and my computer runs fine and I shall not f**k
with it anymore.
Thanks
