I am receiving Outlook mail but outbox suddenly stoppped sending?

I have been successfuly using my Yahoo Mail adress in Outlook for several
years.
Three days back, Outlook suddenly stopped letting me send messages - it just
hangs there saying "sending message 1 of 2" etc.
I am receiving mail in Outlook OK.
I can send mail when I log in and use the Yahoo website mail page.
I have done the obvious - reboot, run my anti virus scans (Skybot search and
destroy and Norton 360), defragged, etc, but to no avail!.
The only software that I have added recently was a Java script update.

Anyone sen this before, or can provide a solution?
Thanks

I have the same issue with two different wireless broadband connections,
both of which have worked fine in the past.

Please don't tell us anything about your Yahoo! account. We don't need any
detailed information to determine a solution.

Sending requires the SMTP protocol. Yahoo! stopped offering free SMTP access
in late Spring, 2002, for accounts in the 'yahoo.com' domain. Because you
claim sending with an SMTP client has worked these last several years,
either you have a paid Yahoo! Mail Plus account ('yahoo.com') domain, or you
have one of the free 'CC' accounts (e.g., 'yahoo.com.au', or 'yahoo.co.jp';
I have one of each).

Did you know that Yahoo! changed their SMTP servers to use SSL? Requires
changing your outbound port (on the advanced tab) to 465, with the SSL box
checked.

You may need to verify the account. This was the case for me. I had to sign
into web-based yahoo, go to mail setting and add an account

Hope it works for you

This was message I got............

You've received an Error 553 message because we've upgraded your BT Yahoo!
Mail security to help prevent identity fraud and spam.
These enhancements will help protect you from 'spoofing' – when people use
alternate addresses to disguise an email's real sender, possibly to commit
fraud.

Making the improvements work
For the security improvements to work, we need you to take a few minutes now
to verify each of the alternate email addresses you use in BT Yahoo! Mail.
This will confirm that these email addresses are genuine.

Please verify addresses now to avoid any further blocking of your outgoing
emails.
Simply follow the step-by-step instructions at
www.btyahoo.com/verify.

You won't be asked for any personal information, but you'll need to log in
to your account to make the changes.
