hi

I am using Microsoft Office 2003 and recently when i tried to save a word
document in the name where i have a folder of the same name i am going to
save as then the folder opens and then i will have to save it ...this is the
steps i follow

My intention is to save a word doc as 'dev' on the desktop and i have a
folder called 'dev' on my desktop

1.I open a word doc and then i will click on 'save'
2.I will then try to save the document on my desktop and then i will enter
my the name as 'dev' for my document and then i will click on 'save' button
3.The 'dev' folder opens and then the name that i had given to the document
will be gone and will be defaulted to the default name the document has
4.If i need to save document as 'dev' on my desktop it will not be possible
until i will save the document in the 'dev' folder and then copy it on to my
desktop

Is this a known issue or is it bcos i am using microsoft 2003

any suggesstions

Not quite an answer, but in the olden days it was considered that saving
anything to your desktop was NOT a good idea - the desk top is NOT designed
as a data storage area. Save it to a manually-created folder on your HDD, or
even to your My Documents folder instead....
