Please don't SHOUT IN ALL UPPER CASE!

When you install the upgrade CD, it will look for evidence of a
qualifying product on the hard disk, or failing that it will (I am
pretty sure) give you the opportunity to insert the disk of the
qualifying product. So dig out the CD from your previous version and
have it ready to use when installing Office 2003.

I am "pretty sure" about this as this is how it always worked in the
past. I did not personally experience this issue when I upgraded from
Office 97 to Office 2003 since Office 97 was installed and fully
functional before doing the upgrade.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Lose the caps - it's considered yelling, is extremely rude and makes your
posts very hard to read. I assume by 'register' you mean 'activate' (though
it's very hard to tell these days with folks using them interchangeably). In
any case, you don't need to have a previous version installed, just insert
the CD when prompted. What is the exact error you're receiving?
