I can only import 65,536 rows in Excel? I thought 2007 handled 1M

I thought Excel 2007 had 1 Million row capacity. but I can only import 65K.
Does anyone know why the difference?

Sounds like you imported an XLS file (previous version of Excel)
Try making an XLSX file
Office Button | Convert and follow the clues
