I can seem to edit a pasted picture or place an auto shape

Something is strange here... when i paste a picture into a doc, I can see it
but I can edit it.. (ie resize it, rotate etc). It seems as if I can sleect
it but can not right click it for the drop down menu. Also I can not place
auto shapes or draw lines arrows etc.. Any Ideas? thx

It sounds like this document has been protected in some manner. The "drawing"
features aren't available in any document with activated protection.
