I cannot configure my windows mail to my live.com account!

Chellise

I've been reading the posts. I went to control panel set-up and changed my
default programs for Windows mail.

The error I am getting now is: Task ' (e-mail address removed) - Sending' reported
error (0X80042109) :' Oulook cannot connect to your outgoing server (SMTP)
e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
adminstrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP.)

I am the administrator, AND all firewall and virus protection is OFF while I
am attempting to set this up! Could someone please help?

Did you get the pop and smtp addresses from the live.com help? Are you
following their set up instructions completely?

Dear Diane:

In the HELP items I read, it said to type: POP.live.com and SMTP.live.com.
Was this incorrect?

Thank you very much for your help!

According to a blog by an MVP for hotmail/live, pop/smtp are for paid accts
only and this may not include the partner accts (provided by an ISP with
your internet acct)

Dear Diane:

I can how much I appreciate your patience! I followed the instructions to
the letter.

Including changing SSL to TLS because I have Outlook 2007. When I finished
I'm still getting an error 0x80042109 - cannot connect to your outgoing
(SMTP) e-mail server. I did enter my full username and password. I selected
"not configured to use the same incoming server option." Actually, I tried
it both ways. No luck.

What I DID see was a misc. error that "popped" up - when I did a "test" -
after I reconfigured EVERYTHING as written..."The connection to the server
was interupted."

I have a DSL connection and the only thing I haven't modified are my
connection settings. I did notice some notes on the post you sent me to
about DSL users (?)

I cannot thank you enough for your kindness, patience and willingness to
work with me on this.

I have had Vista since 02/07 and NEVER been able to use Windows mail. I
TRULY appreciate your help.
