When I try to open them it says "cannot convert password protected
documents". Then it says "Show help". When I click on that it tells me to go
to "recover text" or "open and repair" . I cannot find any such place on my
computer unless I'm looking in the wrong place. It says it's in the open
button but it's not here. I hope this doesn't sound too confusing. I really
appreciate you getting back with me so quickly. I really have myself in a
bind here.
Thanks - Julie

After you select the file in the File>Open dialog, click on the down arrow
to the right of Open on the Open button. This will cause the button to
expand with a series of options, one of which is Open and Repair.

In what version of Word were the files originally created? If the above
does not work, you may need to open them in the original version and save
them without the password.

Thanks Doug. I will try this and get back with you. The software that I
originally used was the "WordPerfect Productivity Pack." This disc has been
messed up since I bought it, that is why I installed new software. I have
never been able to find the Quattro Pro or anything else in this. The only
thing I had on it was Word Perfect and that got kind of difficult to make
spread sheets and things like that.
Thanks for your help. I'll be back with you soon.
Thanks a bunch.

WordPerfect is a completely different program from Word, made by a different
company. If you have password protected WordPerfect files, Word cannot open
them. You will need to get another copy of WordPerfect if you ever hope to
open those files again.

I reinstalled the Word Perfect and accessed everything again. I printed
everything out and reentered in my new program. I would like to thank
everyone for their help on this. It could have been a disaster. THANK
YOU!!!!!!!!
Jonathan,
Maybe you know how to help me find the Quattro Pro that was supposed to be
on this WordPerfect disc.
Thanks, again.
