I cannot open any of my word or publisher files

Since I have installed Microsoft office I can no longer reopen any saved
files. The problem is not accessing them. When I click on a file I get the
warning: "Pulisher cannot open the file"

How are yu accessing the files? Thru the file manager or straight thru
Publisher?
