I can't insert date with control + ;

Rob

Hi Guru's

I just switched to access 2003 but noticed I can't use the shortcut to
insert the current date, anymore. The shortcut I was very fond of is "control
+ ;"

Any clues what happened with this shortcut??
Any tips and tricks to get emm back? or workaround to fix it?

Appreciate your response

I have 9 machines with Access 2003 here and 10 in a classroom I teach in.
There is a mixture of original Office 2003 and Office 2003 SP1. <ctrl><; >
works just fine on all of them.

Question: Is this a problem will all of your databases or just certain ones?
(Try it in the Northwind sample database from the Access help menu.)

Without knowing more, my first wild guess is that there might be a broken
reference in the database you are working with.

Take a look at the article at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;231413. Follow the
instructions in the "Resolution" section.

See if this helps.

Good luck.

M.L.

Thanx for your reply...I created a new database and the keyboard shortcut
cntr+; indeed is working..(I almost thought my access version was crippled
;-) )
I looked at the suggested articles and the resolution but couldn't detect a
missing reference.

Any other suggestions?

Rob,

At least you know it's a database problem and not an Access installation
problem.

Compact and repair of course.

Occasionally, unselecting a reference, closing the dialog, and reselecting
the same reference magically solves an internal glitch.

Other than that, when I get these kinds of unexplainable problems, I create
a new, empty database and import all of the objects from the bad one. This
has been a long time solution to strange corruption issues that compact and
repair won't fix.

Sco,

Thanx again...will try compact and repair; if that doesn't work I will creat
a new empty database and import all the stuff from the old one...not to eager
to do that but I don't see another option...well thats why I'm not an Access
guru...

appreciate your respons...
