I Can't interst chart

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

When i try to insert chart at word their a messege comes to me says: Some chart types cannot be combined with other chart types. select a different chart type. and if tried to insert it at exel the result will be nothing. don't know how to fix it really need to you use the charts. please if you help me if you can
