I cant open word, excel, powerpoint

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

installed the office 2008 on my mac 13 inch laptop but i cannot open excel, powerpoint, and word. everytime i try and open it the office 2008 assistant comes on, but it never gets me into the programs.

Please help :(
