I can't update from Office Small Business to Office XP Pro

I have Office xp Small Business installed and activated on my PC.
I wish to install Office XP Pro Upgrade. After entering the Product Key, it
returns an error saying that it can't find an eligible product installed on
my PC.

That's because what you are trying to do is a cross-grade, not an upgrade.
Office does not accept cross-grades.
