was trying to delete a document from the "work" pull down menu and followed directions in this forum, which resulted in the total deletion of my pull down menu's to the right of my open apple button! help! 1) how do i restore my main pull down menus?
and 2) how do i get old docs out of the "work" pull down menu once i've got the main menu back, since i obviously did it incorrectly.
thanks!

Help!

so i found the tool to remove a menu item, but i accidentally added it twice, so i tried to delete the dupe, but it wasn't working, so i clicked on the "customize menu" option in the view menu, and it got deleted !!!!!
how do i restore it? there was no "undo" option to be found, and thats my access to customizing tool bars, now sooo so very gone. ugh.

thanks in advance,

On the Toolbars page of the Customize dialog click on the name of the Menu
Bar, then click the Reset button then OK out. If that doesn't restore it go
to the Commands page of the same dialog, select Built-In Menus rom the
Commands list then drag the missing menu into its rightful location.

here is what i did. i.t. friend walked me through it.
quit word.
go to home folder.
go to library
go to app support
go to microsoft
go to office
go to user templates
and so on until you find a file called
Normal.dotm
drag it to the desk top.
restart word.
original menus are restored.
in case anyone needs to know ....
(then trash normal.dotm)

best!
and thank.

That method will certainly work, but it's a bit like throwing out the baby
with the bath water or cutting off your arm because of a hangnail :)
