I did something Stupid! 2007 office retail registration

Hi,

I hope someone can help;

I recently bought an Asus laptop that was pre-installed with Office
Pro 2007 (which i did not know at the time) along with a retail
registration key. The problem is the retailer advised me to download a
trial version from Microsoft and use the retail registration key to
activate it, which i did - but it will not accept the retail key. I
have since discovered that the laptop came with the Office software
pre-installed! but i guess it now won't recognise the retail key as i
have downloaded a trial version over the top!

Please help as my trial period is due to expire.

Go back and see the Retailer and ask him to put back your system as it was purchased

Thanks for the reply but the retailer is not interested. Is there
another method? Could i use system restore as a last resort? i really
do not want to lose all my settings ect...
