I don't have a navigation pane for a 2003 database.

Access 2007 has a navigation pane. 2003 and earlier have the good old
database window. Try pressing F11 key and see if it shows up.

Failing that, start the database while holding down the Shift key.

If that doesn't work, open the database and go to Window, Cascade. Then
press the F11 key.

If that STILL doesn't work, go to Tools, Startup and checkmark "Display
database window".

I'm assuming that you mean the database window and not a Switchboard form of
some sort.

If you are looking for the database window where you can work with tables,
queries, macros, forms, reports, and modules, then his F11. If you want the
TASK PANE in Access 2003, then SHIFT + F1 will bring that up.
