I want to create a border on a page that is not shared by other pages. If
this is possible how is it achieved?

Go to Format on the menu click on the Shared borders, you
will see that you have a choice to apply your border to
all pages or to the current page, top or side or both.

It all depends on how fancy of a border you want.

Here is an example for you, simple image for the background
and a complimentary colored box for the contents

Tried that but the table on the right is not independent of the rest of the
page and when I edit the right table it affects the left table. Any other
suggestions

If you have two separate table, modifying one will not modify the other, so it sound like you are
talking about a two column table, not individual tables.

Shared borders allow common content to be repeated across many pages without
having to enter the content on each page.

You can try using the Include Page component to achieve what you want; or
just turn off the shared border(s) on the pages you *don't* want it on.
