I get a "Not a valid embedded object" error when pasting a pictur.

When I try to copy and paste a picture from MS Paint into MS Word 2003, I get
a "Not a valid embedded object" error message.
Furthermore, i received several Word files with embedded pictures that don't
show up.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2003, with no success.
I get the same error in Excel.

Do you have any hints on how to fix this ?
